The Retreat Location and Community Overview
With only 90 home sites on 90 acres, The Retreat offers a private, low-density residential environment. Protected nature preserves account for much of the rest of the acreage in The Retreat. The community is situated on the south side of Scenic Highway 30A on the Gulf Mexico in Blue Mountain Beach. It is approximately 13 miles east of Destin and 19 miles west of Panama City Beach in Northwest Florida.

The Gulf-front Beach Club stands prominently at the end of Retreat Drive, and features a half-moon infinity-edge pool with a fountain, hot tub, beach access, private restroom facilities, shaded dining areas, grills and private storage lockers. The Beach Club is available by reservation to residents for private functions.
Residents and guests of The Retreat have 1,000 feet of private uninterrupted Gulf front beach for their exclusive use, which is permanently protected from future development.
Draper Lake is one of only 11 coastal dune lakes along the beaches of South Walton and offers a canoe launch and picnic pavilion as well as a play fort for children. Only 15 dune lakes can be found along the Gulf of Mexico in northwest Florida, but these rare bodies of water also exist in remote parts of Africa and Australia.
